To accelerate wind energy manufacturing across Europe, the Commission presented the EU Wind Power Package in October 2023. It consists of 2 initiatives – the European Wind Power Action Plan and a communication on achieving the EU’s offshore wind ambitions.
However, the market for renewable co-location projects in Europe is still in its early stages. According to Aurora Energy Research, solar and wind farms with a combined capacity of nearly 1.2 gigawatts (GW) were operating in Europe in 2023 alongside large-scale battery storage.
The goal is to list all planned and operational energy storage projects in Europe by location and technology. The dashboard can be filtered by country, project status and technology. It lists 32 countries and is led by Germany, with 472 projects. It is followed by the United Kingdom (455 projects), Spain (147 projects) and Italy (112 projects).
